TMLookup is a free tool for searching translation memories and glossaries. It can handle large TMs and multilingual databases, containing millions of entries. TMLookup can be used even without a CAT tool.
TMLookup runs out of the box without installation. It supports massive multilingual databases up to 35 million TUs. Through keyboard shortcuts, a search can be done from any program such as MS Word, CAT tools, or browsers, and search results can be copied to the clipboard.
TMLookup depends on SQLite database engine for fast search results, and it has powerful search features, including Boolean operators and regular expression support. Search results are displayed with match highlighting. The font and highlighting colour can be customised.
TMLookup users can import TMX and tab delimited text files. It fully supports Unicode, hence it is able to work properly with non-Latin languages.
How to use TMLookup:
Go to “File” menu and select “Create New Database”; determine the source and target languages such as EN and FR. Then, go to “Edit” menu and select “Import File into Active Database”; you can import a TMX or tab-delimited text file. Now, you can type a word or phrase and click “Go” to search for it. You can also check the “Help” menu for more details.
Furthermore, in the same folder of the EXE, you can find an TXT file called TMLookup_setup.txt including some customizable options.
