Have you ever faced a computer issue, but you were not able to describe it precisely to a technical support specialist to help you troubleshoot it? Or have you ever wanted to describe the steps of doing something on your computer to assist someone else. It might help that you record the steps and save them to a file. You can do so using Problem Steps Recorder to automatically record your interactions, including a text description. Problem Steps Recorder is integrated into Windows by default; so you do not need to download or install anything additional application.
- To launch the Problem Steps Recorder, click Start menu, type “problem steps”, and click the “Record steps to reproduce the problem“.
- Now, click the Start Record button and do the steps to get the error or problem you are encountering.
- While doing the steps, you can click the Add Comment button to help describe what you are doing; select the area to make a comment about and enter your comment.
- After you have completed, click Stop Record and you will be prompted to save the file. Save the .zip file to the location you prefer. This ZIP archive includes an .mht file containing screenshots of everything the user has experienced and the user interactions to the program as well as any comments added by the user.
